Health and Fitness
By health, we mean not only being free from illness, but the ability to sleep soundly, to work energetically, to think clearly, and to be calm yet alert. By fitness, we mean not just physical strength, but the ability to react quickly, to endure hard work, and to concentrate without mental fatigue.
Kung Fu is better than other forms of exercise for promoting health and fitness. In swimming, jogging, and karate, for example, the fitness acquired diminishes as one grows old, but in Kung Fu it is enhanced. This is because Kung Fu is more than physical exercise; it develops the inner faculties of vital energy and the mind. A Kung Fu practitioner will exhibit more zest and vitality in both work and play than an ordinary person, and have calmness of mind and clarity of thought even under demanding situations.
Confidence / Self Esteem
As your skills improve naturally your confidence and self esteem will also improve. Techniques that you found difficult not long ago now become everyday movements and combinations that you will use all through your kung fu training experience. The mind and body work together to complete the training experience and a sense of pride and achievement is evident as you become more confident in your ability. Although KF is an individual sport, students reach their potential and goals through the support of other students, higher graded students and our nationally accredited instructors. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from any of our fellow practitioners. Kung fu will build your confidence and self esteem as training increases and grading levels are achieved.
Self-Defense
Self-defence is the essence of Chinese martial arts. True Kung Fu teaching always instructs students to be tolerant and avoid fighting, but the ability to defend oneself, is a valuable asset. It is only when we know that we can defend ourselves effectively that we gain self-confidence. In this way self-defence can be applied to non-combative situations, such as job interviews or school exams. In modern society, this need for psychological self-defence is perhaps more important than the need to actually fight.
Mental Focus
Whether you are a busy professional or a child in school, focus and concentration are tools that are needed throughout your life. Shaolin Kung Fu has been used as a method of training the mind to focus for centuries. Focus and awareness are enhanced through exercises that require the mind and body to work as one.
Inner Peace
This post is especially dedicated to BB AK in Cbox. As many already known, his blogs are famous and he has many readers who ask him finance related questions. To many of us readers, we admired his Kung Fu. However, not many of us have his inner strength. In stock market, different traders and investors have different Kung Fu. It may be easy to know and learn from other people’s Kung Fu, but applying it is not that easy. As a summary, BB AK’s Kung Fu is: Buy more when price hit new low at resistance and with positive divergence. Don’t sell when the prices form new lows, instead reduce exposure on rebounds. However, normal people like me cannot keep buying more when price hit new low.
We don’t have enough inner strength. If we did that, the percentage of that stock out of our entire portfolio will just panic sell when the price keep hitting lower lows, while BB AK keeps buying from us HAPPILY. (Quoting from beary, “AK will win money no matter what.”) When rebound really comes, we will all regret on hindsight. Therefore, this boils back to the very fundamental issue of mind and money – the need to train your mind to sit tight when price high and not to panic sell when price goes lower. Personally, a very good way not to panic sell in bear is to manage your money allocation well.
For example, if you have INR 100,000, you put INR 5000 into each stock. This stock only takes up 5 percent of your portfolio. In addition, due to your prior experiences with losses (see and the fact that you know how long you can replenish that money from your working income, you will not easily panic sell and can sleep well in night. If you are comfortable with 10 percent per stock, you can add 5000 later to average in. (not average down.).
Do not keep averaging down if you do not have enough inner strength. You will 走火如魔,死无全尸。 In short, plan your money allocation well first as this will indirectly train your mind to follow the most simple rule – buy low sell high. Remember, you can only be invincible if you have great Shaolin Kung Fu with good inner strength and mind.

Character Training
Kung Fu teaching emphasizes moral development as well as physical training, stressing values like respect, courage, tolerance, and reverence for life. The very nature of Kung Fu training is a long process of character building. Wholesome qualities like endurance, perseverance, discipline, loyalty, and a calm disposition are prerequisites for progress, especially at higher levels. All these qualities, acquired through Kung Fu training, are transferable to daily life.
